I guess you're living in a different universe than I am. Whether you like it or not, I'm afraid they did. That's like saying Chuck Berry had no impact on the musical landscape.

comparing nirvana to chuck berry? that's ludicrous.
nirvana, although a respectable band, really didn't do anything new. they just did semi-punk rock-ish music when cock rock was the most popular. just because they were a breath of fresh air doesn't mean they were god's gift to the world of music.

chuck berry had and has an obvious influence on countless musicians
i cant think of anyone obviously influenced by nirvana
drop a name or two please
i do like them and am eager to be persuaded

Interesting to note that Led Zeppelin are rating the highest in this poll, while I think they were a brilliant group, they're also responsible for the most self-indulgent technique-is-all soft rock/hair rock uninspired heavy metal wankery to ever hit an 80s chart. Not their fault of course. And yes, Nirvana, while being cool and writing ace songs, were very much a right-place-right-time band. Were it The Pixies that broke through though, that would be a different story.
